Who we are
The Carvelli family has created a little slice of their homeland in the quaint atmosphere of Marco Island. The family shared a cherished memory from their childhoods in Mesoraca, Italy, when the entire family and friends sat at the table to share meals and conversations. Brothers Luigi, Sal and Francesco Carvelli with cousins Adamo and Francesco Serravalle opened the first DaVinci’s restaurant on Marco Island on Florida’s Gulf Coast in 1996. Ever since it has been only growing and years after, the Carvelli family has brought their many years of experience to Marco again, creating a contemporary restaurant with all the warmth and attention to detail you can highly expect when Marco Prime Steaks and Seafood opened its doors in late August 2013. Located in the heart of Marco Island, Fl. Across from the Hilton Hotel in the Marco Walk Plaza, Marco Prime Steaks and Seafood is welcome and newly addition to the city dining scene offering a fine dining interpretation of the classic American steakhouse with hints of French, Italian & Asian influence throughout the menu. A year later, they have recreated the same atmosphere of warmth combined with great food and hospitality when they opened DaVinci’s of Boca in early September 2014 at the Town Center Mall in Boca Raton. And now, The Oyster Society upscale casual seafood and raw bar restaurant. Meet the man behind the menu
Executive Chef / Co-owner - Francesco Carvelli
Born in Mesoraca, Italy, small town of Calabria, Chef Francesco grew up with the passion of cooking passed from her mother Elisa Carvelli and support of his father Salvatore Carvelli. At the age of 13 years old, he decided to go to culinary school in Calabria, where he developed his skills in the kitchen and discovered the love for food as an art. After graduating, he went to Bellinzone, Switzerland to work on his first restaurant “Il Nuovo Fiore” where he learned the art of making pizza, he went back to Italy to work at “L’ Impero” restaurant. At the age of 20, came to USA to work at his brother's restaurant ``Davinci's`` in Marco Island, Fl where he became a Sous Chef and right after, a Chef and The Carvelli Restaurant Group was born. Francesco being Executive Chef-Co Owner came to start the concept of Marco Prime, a contemporary steakhouse, that has become a Marco Island staple. Now he has put all his blood, sweat and tears in the newest concept, The Oyster Society. Diving in to all the best companies to provide fresh, sustainable, inventive and beautiful seafood dishes.
